On their album ‘In Relations’, soprano Eva Zalenga and pianist Doriana Tchakarova revive forgotten connections between outstanding composers of the 19th century and the most important poets of their time in a fascinating way.
With their sensitive interpretations, they rediscover the deeply intertwined relationships between the artistic worlds of poetry and music with three world premiere recordings, giving them a touching voice in the present. Eva Zalenga and Doriana Tchakarova show that the network of connections becomes even more intricate and extensive the more one immerses oneself in the biographies and pieces and interpret the carefully selected and thoughtfully brought together works at the highest level.
2023, Eva Zalenga won the German Music Competition and the SWR Young Opera Stars Competition. As the winner of the Vienna International Music Competition, she was recently a guest at the Vienna Musikverein. Following her debut as Adele in Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, she will soon be making her debut at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen. Born in Biberach in 1994, Eva Zalenga began singing lessons as a child and later studied at the music academies in Dresden and Leipzig. In supplementary masterclasses, she studied with Vesselina Kasarova, Rudolf Piernay, Christine Schäfer and Hedwig Fassbender. Following her studies, she was a soloist with the ensemble of the St. Gallen Theatre in Switzerland.
Doriana Tchakarova is an internationally successful pianist and winner of numerous prestigious competitions. Her recordings have been honoured with the Diapason découverte and nominated several times for the Opus Klassik and Echo Klassik awards. Born in Varna, Bulgaria, the pianist studied at the HMDK Stuttgart, where she now holds a teaching position herself. She is also a sought-after performer and lecturer at numerous singing masterclasses and international competitions. She has already worked with well-known singers such as Samuel Hasselhorn, Äneas Humm, Juliane Banse, Krešimir Stražanac, Konstantin Krimmel, Sarah Wegener and Julian Prégardien and has performed at festivals including Heidelberger Frühling, Dresdner Musikfestspiele and Mozartfest Würzburg.
