Eva Zalenga varia • bel

The multifaceted nature of this album is already reflected in the cover image, which features soprano Eva Zalenga no less than five times, as well as in the title ‘varia • bel’. The Latin word ‘varia’ means something like ‘different’, ‘colourful’ or ‘alternating’. And variety is fun – variatio delectat.

After their successful joint debut CD ‘In Relations’, Eva Zalenga and pianist and lied accompanist Doriana Tchakarova are now following up: The new album is a musical journey through three centuries and impresses with the great versatility of the songs and pieces. Clarinet, violin and violoncello complement the classical lied duo of voice and piano to form a colourful chamber music ensemble. Eva Zalenga reveals the full range of her expressive voice and sings polyglotically in three languages. Together with Doriana Tchakarova, she has put together an enchanting programme for this album and presents extraordinary rarities, Irish folk songs, classics of the Romantic period and a world premiere recording.
