In 2025, a work by Richard Wagner will be performed for the first time at the Opera in the Quarry in St. Margarethen, Austria: ‘The Flying Dutchman’ will celebrate its premiere on 9 July 2025 and will be shown until 23 August 2025 as a spectacular open-air production for musical theater newcomers and those curious about music, as well as long-time Wagner enthusiasts.. A monumental work in a breathtaking setting with an outstanding ensemble – ‘The Flying Dutchman’ promises two and a half hours of spectacular musical theatre on one of the most impressive open-air stages in Europe.
The Opera in the Quarry has been thrilling audiences with major opera productions every year since 1996. The stage is located 65 kilometers south-east of Vienna, in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage region of Lake Neusiedl, and offers an unforgettable open-air opera experience with its special acoustics and atmosphere.
